Southwest VA Wedding Venue Owners Purchase Minority Stake in Scottish Football Club

[Elk Creek, VA] Chris and Joy Butler, owners of Eagleview Event Center in Elk Creek, VA, have
become the lead investors, and minority owners, of the Caledonian Braves Football Club out of
Glasgow, Scotland.
“My grandfather was born in Scotland,” said Chris Butler. “It was only an hour north of Glasgow
that he was born, and I thought it would be cool to get back to that part of my Scottish heritage.”
The Caledonian Braves play in the fifth tier of the Scottish Football league in the “Lowland
Division,” and are hoping to make their way up the ranks of the Scottish Football League
System through promotion. Chris Ewing, owner/founder of the Braves, is working to change the
way football is done in Scotland by giving fans the chance to be owners of the club. “I reached
out to Chris Ewing via email when I saw what he was doing,” said Butler, “we got the chance to
talk a couple of times via zoom and it turned out we had a lot in common.” Ewing and the
Butlers are both driven by family and how best to leave a legacy for their children. “It was one of
the first things we discussed when we started talking,” Butler said, “I told Chris [Ewing] that Joy
and I wanted to leave a legacy for our kids, and immediately Ewing said he was so glad to hear
that, because he is trying to do the same for his girls. It quickly became apparent that it was a
great fit.”
“Who knows where this goes” said Butler, “but the whole family voted to do this and so we are
all along for the ride. This will have its ups and downs, but we will get to do it with our kids. So,
we own part of a wee football club in Scotland. It will be a fun ride. Watch for updates from
